Warning Hollywood Incorrect “Breaking Bad”

Breaking Bad 1

I’m touching a Hollywood Taboo by writing “Breaking Bad” is just okay if not leaning toward the bad side (and not in MJ way).  After watching several episodes I found some scene’s dragged on way too long with unnecessary shots that might be explained later but who has time to watch. More concerning is I can’t get behind Walter (the main character) who appears to switch overnight from being a normal citizen to a psychopath bent on destroying his neighborhood and in a sense the world.  I’m sure that some of my anti-drug subconscious/conscious view is seeping through but I still enjoy good horror as well as mafia stories so why doesn’t Walter’s character have some empathy inside me.  It can’t be just my anti-drug feelings that are causing this for “Snowfall” ( concerning those involved in the crack epidemic) has caught my eye. I believe that in the end it’s the causal almost humorous way that this insidious drug “meth” is spoken about that move me to have such feelings as well. The death and destruction it brings are shown but not in the way that truly impacts the viewer as it should.  I’ll continue to watch “Breaking Bad” in a very casual way just in case it breaks for the MJ version of bad and if so will end my Hollywood Taboo here but until then rebel critic still writes.
