I agree that the U.S must look at for it’s interests 1st but not at the point of closing our eye’s to those that are struggling around her. I’m a bit concerned that the Trump administration will be keeping their eyes a bit too closed which not only will affect those individuals who we truly can help but also who we are as a nation. It is true we can’t stand and build nations again after they have been unnaturally toppled but should we look away when an oppressive regime destroys/eliminates all voices of opposition? There must be a balancing act where we do draw lines in the sand and stand with those who’s lives are being destroyed by tyranny. We must do what we can to prevent and stop Holocausts from occurring whether it would be in Syria or any other nations for the misery and death will surely seep into our nation as a whole if not in the consciousness of who we are.
