Deportation & Prohibition

prohibition 1  prohibition 2

Although it often doesn’t cause harm when it does it’s impact is worse then the any benefit derived.  This statement or similar point was made by those who supported prohibition (illegalize alcoholic products) and those who currently support deportation of the illegal immigrant.  Yet just as the days of the past a strong majority disagree and will oppose such laws even if it makes them a criminal. The reason is simple it’s very difficult to ban something that people have had for a way of life for years and years.

We may not want to admit to it but we all have received some benefits to the illegal immigrant population whether it be lower fruit costs, good service at our local restaurants or even having that bed made (they’ll even leave the light on) when we arrive at a hotel and many just won’t want to give it up. Just as in the case of alcohol strong regulations are the key.  We need to know what’s in our product and similarly we need to know who crosses our border. Chemicals that might be harmful to our products must be withdrawn as do the illegal immigrant that breaks our laws and/are dependent on our social welfare programs.  Let us learn from history and not take this type of action that have no way of working and will only make criminals out of normally good citizens.
