After a long break today class we will learn about a subject matter that will probably affect all of us in someway. For in our life we will probably know someone affected by this horrible disease . Yet G-D willing someday may this be a history lesson that our grandchildren read about as we did with Polio.

CANCER – Abnormal cell growth that has the potential to invade or spread throughout one’s body. It’s name was established when the appearance of a cut surface showed a maligant tumor with veins stretching our resembling a Crab. 

SIGNS-  Lump, Abnormal bleeding, prolonged cough, unexplained weigh loss, & change in bowel movement

COMMON CAUSES-  Tobacco Use ,  Obesity & or Poor Diet. Lack of Exercise,  Infection such as Hepatitis &  Genetics

DETECTION-  Show of signs, screening test,  medical imaging,  Biopsy

MOST COMMON FORMS FOR MEN IN ORDER –  Lung , Prostate , Colorectal ,  Stomach Cancer

MOST COMMON FORMS FOR WOMEN IN ORDER- Breast,  Colorectal, Lung, Cerivical Cancer

COST- 1.6 Trillion dollars a year

TREATMENT  

1. Chemotherapy–  Treating Cancer with one or more cytoxic and neoplastic drugs which kill the cells that divide rapidly. Cancer Cells are cells that rapidly divide.

2. Targeted Therapy– Form of Chemotherapy but it targets the molecular differences between a Cancer Cell and a normal cell.  This can be used to cure, reduce or may it easier to perform surgery to remove such cells.

3. Radiation– Uses  Ionizing radiation to cure or improve the symptoms of Cancer. The radiation destroys the DNA of Cancer Cells so they die.

4. Antiboiotics – Anticancer  Antibiotics  which block cell growth while limiting damage to healthy cells are used treat or prevent infections during Cancer Treatment.

4. Surgery– Removes the Cancer cell and or lymph nodes that could spread the disease

5. Immunotherapy– Uses the existing immune system of the individual to fight the disease and recently has been demonstrated to allow donated T Cells to work as well.

6. Alternative Therapy– This process uses unconventional ways that have not been fully vetted to cure or help deal with the disease.
