It’s great that Columbus and other navigators helped to find America for the Europeans but due we really need a full day off to celebrate? Other then a Columbus Day Sale and a few people walking down a parade route how are you supposed to celebrate this holiday anyway? Maybe I’ll grab an extra slice of Pizza or a Calzone forget about it. On a different note I know that many Native American’s don’t believe this holiday is worthy of a celebration because they feel that we “invaded their land” but would those individuals still want to be living in Teepee’s and wearing those moccasins especially in the winter. We can argue about the past but it’s best we appreciate where we are today having another 3 day weekend and not knowing what to do with the time.
