Imagine if you’re pet had true responsibilities. You could only pet him/her between the hours of 8-9PM and they would go for their own walks. They couldn’t be bothered with chasing a ball and the tail thing that was simply ridiculous. Sometimes our pets can be a bit demanding of our time but would we truly want it any other way?
Not me (for now)
Monday! Monday! Monday! Nobody else is cheering I guess it’s Tuesday; nope it’s still Monday and I didn’t win the lottery. Before you throw that hot Monday coffee at me (you’ll never get up) let me explain. It’s the start of a new week and who knows what it will bring. I’m sure they’ll be some new headaches to bear and pains in the derriare but G-D willing they’ll will be times of success, productivity, and happiness. Monday is also the time to prove to yourself and your boss that you’re ready to earn that next weekend. It’s the time when you’re little breaks really count and the special few moments you see with friends and family truly are significant because you’re truly under the clock. Monday is also only five days away from Friday, Friday, Friday. So let’s sing together Monday, Monday, Monday okay I’ll sing alone.
As the NFL season begins many of us are glad to be just watching instead of playing but that also holds true in other real world pursuits. Whether we watch a sporting event or watch a friend engage in a conversation with a stranger, watching is definitely safer. We can pursue a business dream and lose everything we got or work at such a company and lose only a weeks salary. We can pursue the hottest guy or woman at the bar or go after the one that is already attracted to us. Many of us would just prefer to watch and insure that if their are pains they aren’t full frontal tackles.
I on the other hand will take the full frontal tackle as long as I’m wearing a helmet. The Helmet prepares me for the possibility of loss and should allow me to get back on my feet in case I’m hit. Yet even a soul like me sometimes doesn’t mind watching as long as I’m on the sidelines and get called into the game. Which position do you take?
Have you wondered why those individuals who have attitude seem to be popular? They can criticize the world and still the world loves them or so it seems. Why do you think this occurs. Here are a few reasons (below) that I believe this is so.
(1) People want to be the one praised by those who often don’t give praise.
(2) Individuals enjoy the direct honesty of the “Jerk” who truly aren’t afraid to call it as they see it.
(3) There is a side to most of us that likes to hear the dirt and negative traits of others which the “Jerk” is fond of providing.
(4) The “Jerk” is the rebel from the good manners that most of us try to practice.
(5) Finally the”Jerk” is usually funny in their direct interpretation of events.
I have heard in many a conversation that they don’t pay attention to the news because “it doesn’t effect them in their life”. Although I strongly disagree with such a statement because I believe in some way we are all connected; I’ve decided to utilize this philosophy in the news I present in this blog. It also allows me to write a bit less and therefore take the dogs for a longer walk.
(1) Ukraine and Russia have agreed to a peace deal. If this truly holds up then economic sanctions between the West and Russia should fall and this should help everyone’s pocketbook.
(2) NATO leaders agree to spearhead a group that can move quickly to react to trouble spots in Central and Eastern Europe. If this group can become effective it might deter acts of aggression upon independent nations and prevent war.
(3) Iran has failed to meet the deadline to provide nuclear information to a U.N watchdog agencies. Acts like these might make it more difficult to restrain Israel from attacking Iran, so to prevent Iran from obtaining offensive nuclear weapons. If G-D forbid such a war would have to occur not only would the innocent be killed but the economic and military ramifications would effect us all.
(4) 120 Wineries in California lost $50 million dollars due to earthquakes. This impacts all those who are planning to buy their next bottle of Merlot and those who might attend a restaurant serving wines as those losses must be recovered somewhere else.
(4) Alibaba a Chinese E-Commerce company is set to have one of the biggest stock market debuts ever. Chinese censored and controlled E-Commerce business might effect the economic freedom we enjoy especially if they go after companies like Amazon.com
(5) An unexpected job slowdown occurred in August which could effect the economic recovery we are supposed to be experiencing in the future.
(6) A decision on whether governmental municipalities can compete with the private sector when it comes to owning high speed internet service should be occurring shortly. This decision could effect other ways the public sector can compete with the private sector and therefore effect innovation and pricing for the goods and services you receive.
(7) Apple is set to introduce a smart phone on Tuesday that can monitor your health. If this truly works well we might be able to have an early warning system against major illnesses.
(8) China’s using more of it’s resources to secure movies for distribution around the world. There might be a great deal of the movies you watch in the near future with stars named Lee instead of Cruise.
Throughout history whenever leadership is missing people have been drawn to the power of a dictator. The truth is it doesn’t matter if that leader comes from the right,left, is secular or religious based the absence of true leadership will enable those with grandeur plans for themselves to take control. The dictator will gain power by enabling the masses to find blame for their problems on some “evil source” that has infiltrated their own country and must be annihilated. The individual will utilize this opportunity to consolidate power by closing all opposition press, religious institutions and political parties that might cause him/her problems. They will not only survive but strive as long as they can continue to find scape goats to blame. The reason that so many in the public will buy into this propaganda is it’s easy to digest and when the opposition is eliminated they will be no one to challenge it.
The solution is simple to make sure the United States and other Westernized countries do not shrink from their leadership role. They must make sure that even in the darkest prison the voice of freedom can be heard.Their must be a clear formulated strategy that deals with confronting the growth of dictators before their first indoctrination occurs. For without that leadership I fear groups like ISIS will not only continue to grow but eventually create avenues for a dictator to take over in our own lands.
While most of us wonder what we are going to do on the weekend the “Weekend Warrior” makes sure we can do it. From the local bar that is open all the time to the Officer who secures the streets so we can enjoy this time together, these individuals will miss out on all the parties, Football games, and family events that we often take for granted. Most of all I want to thank those who are serving overseas fighting for our Freedom to make sure that we not only get to enjoy this weekend but every weekend and weekday in between. This Bud is truly for you.
