Evil motive

Obama Ted Cruz

When we disagree with a leader whether it be in business, politics or religion we are often to quick to blame it on an evil motive instead of the more obvious component incompetence. This incompetence can be based on receiving only the information this leader wants to hear and/or a belief that is based more on a philosophy rather then reality. They might continue to deny the reality that is out there because it doesn’t fit the reality that they want to create. These individuals might even go a step further by doing something they know is wrong today because they believe it will lead to a greater good in the future today.

Once you find that common ground with your opponent it is your job to convince the leader and their supporters that you share these values. It’s just that their proposal has more bumps in the road to get to the goal then yours does. Even if they still disagree, by pointing out some of those bumps maybe they’ll eventually agree to make a right path. It might be a longer more arduous path but at least you’ll have them on your side.

Give a fish no give the damn pole.

SPEED NETWORKING 4

I truly want to help people be the best they can be but don’t have the time and resources to truly accomplish that goal except in a small way through “Speed Networking”. Speed Networking enables those with different skills to tell an individual about their skills in an efficient way and vice a versa.  This is accomplished by having each person who participates speak to a stranger across from them about their talent for one minute then it’s their time to listen for a minute. Once that is accomplished they move on to speak another individual who might need their talents and/or might have a talent they want to share with another.  In the end “Speed Networking” will enable those underemployed or unemployed to find jobs in work they want to accomplish and at the same time allow employers to recruit talented people. All in a productive and efficient way.

The Day After

feast or famine 2

LIFE CAN POINT YOU IN DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS

What happens the day after can be as important as what happens the day before. In life we start projects that take a great deal of time, effort and/or monies to complete yet once they’re completed what do we do next? It can be a time of reflection, relaxation or a combination of both. Yet if we don’t balance this time correctly the lane might come to an end.

I  recently finished revising a script that took me away from society norms and put me into a whole different world.  Yet I know with the ending of one project a new project will await that will challenge my abilities and consume a great  deal of time.  The time in between maybe minutes, hours or days but I plan to make the most of it but catching up with the “norms” I left behind and reflecting on how I could have been more successful with my time and effort. In the end if I utilize that in between time well I will be more successful in the future.

What do you do with your “down time”?

A Father who is truly the greatest

Father's Day.2 fathers day 3

Every year fathers  across the world are name the greatest dad but who truly is the best? We can take out the absentee fathers who are there at conception and a party here and there that leaves with a billion or so. Then we can take out the fathers that are over disciplinarians and those that more of a friend then a father that brings us down to about a hundred million.  With the way we’re going this search could take a lifetime.

That father would be empathetic but strong,  generous without over indulgent, and show us the way without pushing us down the path. In many ways our fathers hit many of those keys at least at certain parts of our life.  To conclude I  state that the greatest father in the world is the one that you have because even though he may not be perfect he’s been perfect at least sometimes in your life. Happy Father’s Day.

P.S.  My Dad is still the best.

Inanimate objects attack

ACTUALLY TOASTER OVEN- (World News)

Today there appeared to be a conspiracy against me by inanimate objects. Now before you place me in a nice white room in a special jacket let me explain. Upon waking up I entered my bathroom and noticed a heavy light fixture dangling dangerously over my head. I knew I needed cover so I went into the kitchen and opened my pantry only to be attacked by plates that came from all directions.  If it wasn’t for my trusted dog who made sure that these plates had no food on top I don’t know where I would be today.  I’m still  a bit worried though because the toaster oven is giving me that evil look (see above).

P.S. If you’re taking this seriously I have a bridge for sale.

Achievement doesn’t take a lifetime.

achievement

As a person who is let’s say a bit “hyper” I don’t like to wait years to achieve some goals. I  truly understand that all good things come to those that wait but sometimes I’ll take an okay as well. Here are some of the little personal achievements (below) that I try to achieve on a daily basis. PLEASE ADD TO THE LIST.

(1) WRITING whether it be this blog or some other piece. Writing enables me to see a work started from an idea in my head to something concrete on paper.

(2) READING- The feeling of learning a new fact or absorbing new information excites my mind, body and soul.

(3) CLEANING- The before and after effects can truly give me a sense of achievement except when I find more of a mess.

(4) CHARITY- Giving a little piece adds a whole new piece to my life.

(5) PRAYING- Taking a moment from a crazy day to thank the one G-D who get’s me through it is truly a blessing.

Iraq and Freedom?

Posted by Bruce - in Blog, Philosophy, Political - No Comments

iraq isi

As Iraq drifts from basic freedom to a Theocracy you wonder what went wrong?  Didn’t the people enjoy the basic human rights that those in the West have whether it be freedom of religion, speech, press etc?  Are Iraqi’s so different? I don’t think so and if we in the West want to truly spread freedom and liberty around the world we might have to look at things a bit differently. Here are a few factors (below) we should consider.

(1) Freedom is tough- It’s much easier when others make the decisions for you because then it could lead to a believe that they are ultimately responsible for the outcome.

(2) Many like to be led. In life there are truly only a few people who want to take the reigns and responsibility of leadership they would rather leave that job to others.

(3) Theocracies don’t have a timetable since they claim they are doing “the lords work” then it’s up to the Lord to decide the results.

(4) Their must be an emotional commitment and a struggle related to Freedom for it to truly hold up over time.  When others have sacrificed their lives for such a cause it makes it more important to hold it up.

(5) Minority parties must feel some type of representation in the governing body or they will fight to end such rule.

(6) New Democracies need support from older Democracies whether it be through education, military support, or financial aid. If we want these people to enjoy basic freedoms we must help them get around the bases.  This commitment might be tough politically but is the right thing to do.

Your breaking point!!!

Posted by Bruce - in Blog, Philosophy - No Comments

breaking point

Our success may not be dependent on good looks, talent, or the friends we have but by determining out breaking point. If we are the type of person that “freaks out” over every little issue no one will want to deal with us but on the other hand if we are too calm others might push us a bit too far.  Therefore breaking points must be measured whether it be in our social, business or even personal life (ex waiting in line) but how to determine when it’s best to have a controlled explosion and when to walk away that is the question. Here are some factors that might be helpful.

(1) Will this explosion gain you respect from those that are annoying you or will they think you’re insane?

(2) Have you blown up recently or would this be a one time occurrence?

(3) Can you control your explosion or could it result in more damage then it’s worth?

(4) What is the best case scenario and what is the worst case scenario how likely is one to occur verse the other?

(5) Do you have another opportunity that is similar to the one you have if your explosion leads to dismissal or will you be out of a job/relationship etc?
