Many of us dream of a day when there will be true peace but that can’t be achieved without the ability to fight for it. Peace only comes with strength and that strength occurs when there is a force that truly believes in it’s purpose. We can build an army but if that army doesn’t believe in the cause they will just run away as we have seen in Iraqi.
Throughout history peace keeping forces whether they be in Korea, Japan, or Europe have enabled those countries to live without the fear of insurrection and develop true and lasting democracies. If we had kept a residential force in Iraq that was agreed upon at the onset of the Iraq war. Democracy is the best way to achieve long term peace but it takes time and patienc. Once the seeds have been created (through a strong constitution) the plant will grow with a little support (residential force) that insures it’s growth. If not for that force the beautiful plant will turn into bunch of weeds fighting itself for power.
