Today’s test was based on me reading the paper within an hour, taking a logline on each article and having a 2 hour break in between. First I have to be able to read my notes. Let’s see what held out in my head and compare what you absorbed.
(1) There is fear that the Afghan election scheduled in April will be fraught with fraud.
(2) Starbucks was brought into the Winter Olympics even though McDonald’s was the official coffee of these Olympics. This was due to a collaboration between NBC and Starbucks.
(3) Rebels in Syria will be getting Antiaircraft and Antitank equipment from Saudi Arabia after a collapse in the peace talks. The United States appears to be giving tacit approval to this deal and monies to pay for the salaries of certain rebel fighters.
(4) The market recovered most of the loss it absorbed earlier in the year although economic conditions haven’t appeared to get better.
(5) Rhode Island Government employees and the Government have come to an agreement on retirement packages before it would be decided in court.
(6) A key Democratic donor, Mr. Steyer plans to hold back funds to those who support the opening of the Keystone Pipeline.
(7) Greeece’s economic slowdown appears to be coming to an end and slow growth may occur shortly.
(8) There was an editorial that expressed concern with bullying in professional football. I paraphrase from the article if football is a team sport then no teammate should feel alone.
(9) Gold and Silver prices have had a nice rebound this year.
(10) Pro Fracking groups in NY are suing the Governor to insure he completes his review on this subject.
(11) An editorial was published suggesting Putin was better at planning world strategy then the leaders in the west.
