After all the controversy concerning the statues of Confederate leaders I decided to explore the President of this confederacy Jefferson Davis, by reading an extensive book on his legacy”The Man & His Hour”. Here was the man who lead the slave states but was the kindest of slave holders with actual justice in his house. A man who led the succession movement served in the cabinet of President John Taylor, was a Senator, Congressman and even a military hero in the Mexican American war. We all understand today that slavery is despicable but in his time it was just a way of life that existed for many generations before. Jefferson Davis was a complex person who had many positive and negative traits that one should explore not tear down.
