How did we get here? To this place where many in the world have openly turned against us and right after the hideous attack on October 7th. The quote. brightest young minds in our country and the world are demonstrating in support of Hamas goals whether they know it or not. I think this works parsha not only tells how this occurred but more importantly how we can battle this mindset.
First let me state that I’m sure Israeli tactics are not a 100 % pure but I believe they are some of the best the world has seen in a military conflict as of now. It just seemed so bizarre to me even with any mistakes that the Israel military might have made that suddenly so many have made the Palestinian cause their main focus maybe they should have this weeks Parsha which decries the victim society. It says You shall not commit a perversion in justice; you shall not favor the poor and you shall not honor the great with righteousness shall you judge your fellow.
I believe this means we should judge one not on the status they are from but the actions they have taken. There is good and bad in every social class and those that commit evil should be punished as individuals not as an entire class. That is why I find it so reprehensible the hate that is being spouted on the Israel nation and even those individuals who just espouse the faith. Yet those who protest the actions against Israel and the Jewish people never take into account the reason the military action needed to be taken and even those hostages who are still held at gunpoint. They look into a simplistic theory of victims without taking into account what might have lead individuals to get them.
G-D willing may the time come soon in which true justice is rung throughout all lands as individuals are not judged not by the group they belong but by the acts they commit. May G-D bless Israel and all those who support our fight for true peace based on G-D’s justice.
