It is just an inch away from light to darkness. Only a few steps that will make your path smooth or rough. Just as we notice that the name Balak and Balaam are so close together in the same bibilical story we can see how paths can collide. Balaam was initially only going to say what G-D put in his mouth/soul but after the temptation of Balak pulled him away he literally saddled his own horse to move in a different direction. Balaam soon released there is only one who will uplift or crush his dreams (as well as legs) before it was too late and decided to follow G-D’s plan after all. We all are led down a similar paths where maybe our signs are not as transparent as Balaak but they are there if we look a bit deeper. Or if we ignore them then the difference will feel as if it is just an inch away but instead are miles apart from the righteous path we should be following.
