I just returned from a cruise and land trip to Alaska and wanted to share with you the Excellent, Good, and Ugly parts of my journey.
EXCELLENT
- FOOD – The food was superb on the cruise ship as well as the land portion of my journey with one exception the Salmon Bake in Fairbanks. I especially enjoyed almost every fish dish (Salmon bake) and breakfeast woke up my pallete.
- SERVICE- The service you receive on the Princess Millennium is exceptional forcing me to over-tip.
- SCENARIO- If you enjoy open country Alaska is just right for you.
- PEOPLE- The people we met in Alaska were very friendly and warm and that can be difficult in Alaska.
GOOD
- EVENING ENTERTAINMENT- The entertainment was outstanding at some points but overall it was traditional cruise ship. They had fabulous dancers that put on wonderful performances yet the music should have been updated.
- EXCURSIONS- The two excursions that will probably stand out in my mind for as long as my mind work are the helicopter ride on a glacier and the private and personal zoo. The Canoe and Jeep tour came in a close 3rd. The other excursions were enjoyable as well except for the long trips to get where we were going ” are we there yet”?
- ROOM- Our cruise room was fine and featured a lovely balcony.
OKAY
- FIRST CLASS- Delta 1st class had it’s moments especially when drinks were served. The seats were larger but you couldn’t sleep because they didn’t go back enough. I would save the monies and go to the bar instead.
- WHALE EXCURSION- It might have not been there day but my Whale friends kept themselves in the water instead of giving us an Alaskan greeting.
- ANIMALS- Most of the animals in Alaska had attitude and weren’t excited that we came to visit. I guess in the case of bears and wolverines that’s a good thing.
UGLY
- Having too many drinks while connecting to another flight. I probably was super obnoxious or funny but it was ugly.
