I continually try to lower my own personal carbon footprint not only because I figure it can’t hurt but also because it’s cost effective but imposing this view on others is a whole different story. My house is the only one in the neighborhood with solar polar and I’ve started replacing all my bulbs to the LED format. I also have motion detectors in most of my house to insure that the lights are off when the people are out. I continually try to reuse my plastic cutlery as well as cups and bowls even though this isn’t as strictly followed by the rest of the family. Upon purchasing a car only safety is above my desire to lesson this carbon footprint with increased gas mileage. I’ve even reduced my intake of cattle products and other meats which is also partially due to health concerns but also to lesson the impact that my food desires effect the planet. Yet just like someone’s faith and culture I believe these are personal decisions that individuals and families should make. Education is an important step in one’s decisions but in the end it must rest with the individual and not be imposed by governmental decrees.
