Patriots Vs Bronco’s – A New Day!

Patriots Vs Broncos

Who would have seriously thought that when I awoke this Monday that this would have been such a new day? I mean I expected to read about some terrible weather condition somewhere in the world, another crime and the Patriots sudden victory at the last minute but today the news has turned upside down. Don’t get me wrong there probably still is some lousy weather in the country and unfortunately I’m sure the news will report on an innocent victim of crime (even if they report last night’s news) but the Patriots somehow lost their winning edge 30- 24 to the Denver Broncos.  I guess you still can believe in Monday’s.

Jet’s VS Buffalo

jets vs bills

The Buffalo Bills beat the NY Jets 22-17 and I’m glad I didn’t watch it. Not only because I couldn’t decide which team to root for because the Jets have been my team from the beginning of my times but the Bills are truly the only NY Team but because they were playing in pajamas. What was with those uniforms I thought the color aspect of my T.V. had been blown up?  I understand the NFL wants to hip or retro but let’s focus on the game not these crazy uniforms Halloween was last month.

Saints Vs Dallas- No time to sleep

Saints Vs Cowboys

This weekend watching the NFL was more unhealthy then eating two Big Mac’s and Fries especially if you were a Dolphin & Cowboy fan. First they get you up extra early to watch the London Bowl of the Jets Vs Dolphins at 9:30 AM and with all the preparations for the NFL fanatic it’s probably 7:30 AM. Then they make sure you’re extra exhausted watching the Saints beat the Cowboy’s 27-20 in overtime probably ending way after Cinderella’s shoe has changed and your attitude as a Cowboy’s fan has done the same. I’m sure the nightmares that followed the Cowboys loss insured that sleep was another loser in the Cowboys fan’s head.  There should be a warning before the night games “WARNING – NFL games at night can cause sleep deprecation especially if your team loses.   I intern decided my health was more important and therefore only saw pieces of both games with both my teams winning.

Jet’s Vs Dolphins- too Early

Posted by Bruce - in Blog, NFL - No Comments

bored at home

The 9:30 EST time for the Jet’s Vs Dolphins game is way too early!  I understand that the NFL is trying to get you’re European attention to the American version of Football but why penalize those American’s who already love the sport? How can you get up screaming for your favorite team before you haven’t got passed the yawns?  Who wants to eat Chicken Wings, Pizza and beer (Football Food requirements) at 9:30AM?  I know it’s over 200 years ago that we won the war against the British but there must be some provision in the victory statement against early morning football? We American’s won’t stand for this, we’ll just go to sleep and watch the hi lights on ESPN.

Ben Roethlisberger- Knee Injury-Hurts many

ben roethlisberger knee injury

Ben Roethlisberger knee injury during yesterday’s game against the St Louis Rams left many others in pain.  The pain of knowing that your team will not have the great leadership that Mr. Roethlisberger brings to the game, the pain of knowing your fantasy football team is missing a key player and the pain of watching a great athlete hurt for at least 4-6 weeks was something that many witnessed in real time. While he is actually feeling the physical pain that must kill those who are his fans witness the emotional pain of losing his talents for several weeks. Imagine if in our own life’s our injuries were treated as if we were  Mr. Roethlisberger, those pains would lesson as we felt the kinship of many  and our recovery to our field would be quickened. G-D willing Mr. Roethlisberger will have a speedy recovery as do those that names aren’t as familiar.

NY Jets vs Indianapolis Colts- can you say J-E-T-S – Jets, Jets, Jets

NY Jets Vs Indianapolis Colts

To be honest in recent years I have become a fair weather fan of the NY Jets for the way they have treated some of their players (Pennington, Teebow) but this year it appears the weather looks very sunny.  It appears that the Jets truly have a team I can cheer for with a more cohesion then in years, led by an awesome quarterback who can throw a missile or a book , Mr. Fitzpatrick. Mr. Fitzpatrick and the rest of Jets team showed what they can do as the dominated the Indianapolis Colt in a 20-7 rout.  The times are changing back again and the letters are slipping out of my mouth as in years past – J-E-T-S let’s go Jets.

Giants Dallas – Monday Morning Linebacker

Giants Dallas

I know I’m being a Monday Morning Linebacker but how could the Giants Let Dallas win with less then 90 seconds on the clock? The Giants defense had to know that all they had to do was to stop the long pass and this game would have been on the win column for “Big Blue”, so how did all  the coaching expertise let this fall apart in less then 2 minutes? Did anyone ever hear of rushing the quarterback? I’m sorry but I may not be a brain surgeon or an NFL coach but this was one I think I could have even won.

Pittsburgh Steelers VS New England Patriots

Pittsburgh Steelers Vs New England Patriots

The time of less sleep has begun as the NFL season kicked off their first regular season game between the New England Patriots and the Pittsburgh Steelers. This should have been an easy game for me to miss because I hate both these teams but it’s football and I love this sport.  It doesn’t matter who is playing as long as someone is being tackled, running, or kicking that pigskin my eyes keep a watching.  In the end the dreaded Patriots pulled out another victory 28 to 21 against my equally hated Steelers and the dreams of football season have become reality again.

Ray Rice a different take.

Ray Rice

We all are disgusted with the violence we’ve seen in the Ray Rice video but is that 30 seconds the end of this man?  Is he too live a life as a man with a scarlet letter  never to be given the chance for redemption? I believe this shouldn’t be the case. Ray Rice should be suspended by the NFL but suspension shouldn’t be banning.  If he is willing to get mental health treatment so he learns to keep his violent behavior on the football field on the field, seek other guidance and speak out for mental health treatment then he should be given a 2nd chance.  For if he is banned it will only cause others to hide their actions and not seek the treatment they need. If on the other hand he is given a chance for redemption and becomes a spokes person for mental health treatment maybe we can truly stop the cycle of violence.

True Football Competition- Schofferhofer Grapefruit vs Kuka Banana Nut Brown Ale

schofferhofer banana nut

It’s the start of another football season so I thought it would be the perfect time for some beer competition. On the one hand we have the delicate swift taste of Schofferhofer Grapefruit that leaves the competition looking back vs Kuka’s strong powerful taste of Banana Nut. One beer is held as a  local favorite Kuka is bottled and brewed in NY while Schoffferhofer has it’s roots in Germany.  The competition is fierce because the refreshing flavor of the Grapefruit beer is a polar opposite of the rich dark banana flavor but in the end Kuka takes it by a safety as the deep flavor suddenly breaks through.

KuKa Banana Nut Brown Ale- 50    Schofferhofer Grapefruit 48-

Next Week Kuka Banana Nut takes on  Rubaeus Rasberry Ale
