Glad Can Give

helping hand 2

Yesterday as I donated some pasta to a local food bank I was thanked for my donation but then it occurred to me that I was glad I could give. For I was able to give in excess of what I had instead of being the one who received this donation. I also had the ability using my hands, legs and mind to be able to contribute this gift personally instead of through a machine. Living where I lived gave me the freedom to decide whether I wanted to give or not, how much I was able to give and also a variety of choices that I could donate. Most importantly in my common day I could in someway help make someone’s day a bit better.   Charity might appear only to benefit those who are direct recipient of it but the truth is it opens a whole new world to those that are giving as well.

Dogs & Neighbors

Posted by Bruce - in Blog, funny - No Comments

Today the only time you can guarantee to see a neighbors is if  there is a natural disaster or a murder in the neighborhood unless they have a dog.  For a dog requires a walk and a walk usually occurs down a street, so it is difficult to avoid that neighbor who might be taking their four legged friend out as well.  Therefore if we truly want to bring neighbors together without death and/or destruction then  it’s time we bring some more dogs to our blocks and maybe we’ll actually speak to each other as well.

Talking to Peacock

Posted by Bruce - in Blog - No Comments

peacock

Most of us wouldn’t be afraid to talk to a Peacock even though he has beautiful feathers.  Yes, I know I said male but there the one’s that wear the dress in the family.  But seriously how come we can have an inhabitability or difficulty  to speak to certain individuals because of the beauty that they have or possess in their life?  It is like our tongues have been caught with Peacock feathers.  We should realize under all those feathers is a body made of the same blood and bones that we have and although there lifestyle might appear so elaborate they still perform the same human functions we do.  We should respect the position a person has achieved but not become subservient to it.  Peacocks might have beautiful feathers but we should realize that G-D has given us  a mind that is uniquely beautiful to the world around us.

SUBNOTE – To my atheist friends do you really believe a Peacock came about by chance? If so I have a bridge to sell you.

Zoo for Dogs

dog and monkey

THIS MIGHT BE TOO CLOSE.

Why shouldn’t there be a zoo where you’re dog can be a visitor too?  This zoo would of course require all dogs to be on leaches but also have a section for dogs to run freely. There would be a food court for people and dogs to enjoy tasty treats and plenty of watering holes.  Isn’t it time for your dog to meet the rest of the animal kingdom. Isn’t it time for the “ZOO FOR DOGS”.

It Follows- Film Review

[youtube_sc url=”http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/it_follows/?search=it follows”]

Amazing trailer but the movie doesn’t live up to it’s premise.  (see review)

If sound score was the only factor in a horror movie this film would receive an Oscar but scenes must be equally appealing with a storyline that has some point therefore this film gets only an okay instead.  Has some jumpy and cover eye scenes but not enough to leave a lasting impression.

Wall Street Weekend Edition- 4/11/15

WALL STREET JOURNAL 2

I want to share with my blog readers the stories that need to be heard for this week of 4/11/15 and why I believe that is so.

(1) Former Governor O’ Malley is building his Democratic challenge to Hillary Clinton in Iowa. I remember in 2008 when the media elite last told us Hillary Clinton would be the shoe in. I guess President Obama had a pair of sneakers.

(2) Afghan troops have failed to secure the south from the Taliban. This is another failure in our middle east policy that G-D forbid might come back to bite us.  Let’s not worry about sending our troops home till their mission is truly accomplished.

(3) Iraqi’s that have sacrificed their lives in defending our troops, during Operation Enduring Freedom have been left behind, while they face retribution at home. These brave men and woman were keys in providing our troops intelligence and translating significant information and leaving them behind today can endanger our troops in future operations, as intelligence sources run dry.

(4) There is a new play on Broadway that deals with the lives and time of President Hamilton.  This gives me a reason to go to a Broadway show again.

(5) Butterfly is a restaurant in NYC that deals with Midwestern food.  I never knew this was a new food category.

(6)  Unique Investments offer greater rewards but also greater risks they include:

(a) Peer to Peer Lending –  Lending Club & Prosper are to services that provide this service to investors and those that need such loans.

(b) Farmland Investing can be found through Gladstone Land, Farmland Partners.

(c) Investments in real estate rentals can be found through REIT’S such as American Home Rentals.

(7) What taste good can actually be good for you and your diet (as long as it’s natural) according to this column.

(8) New games that are based on people working together to achieve a goal such as “Pandemic” are becoming increasingly popular.

Make me happier

happy

I’m happy and I’m sure your happy as well but can we make each other happier without making us feel sad?  Are there small changes that would make that smile a bit brighter or make a cloud disappear in a bright sky?  How do we approach a loved one or an acquaintance to ask them to make these changes without causing them to be defensive and/or angry?  It comes with an honest conversation full of positive beginnings and hopeful a positive end as well.  My road starts today and although there might be a bump along the way I’m going to continue to push through to G-D willing the rainbow at the end.

Obama’s Supporter Today

Kool Aid

Most American’s today disapprove of the job the commander and chief is doing but there are many who still cling to the President. These individuals can be broken up into 3 categories which will be effective in dealing with who you can have a rational conversation on politics with and who might even vote dare I say “Republican” in the future. Here are the categories below.

KOOL AID POISONING- (15 %)   These individuals will support the President even if he shot their mother in front of them.  You will know these individuals if they shake and scream if the name “George W Bush” is brought up.

KOOL AID LOOKERS (10%)  They enjoy looking “Kool” and want to continue to be with the trendoids even if it means watching their friends mother be shot by the President. They will react the way their friends react.  These are the individuals who have no idea who the Vice President is but know the love life of Miley Cyrus.

KOOL AID SIPPERS (22 %)  Confused because one part of them says that the President is doing a poor job but the other side is telling them to stay in the camp. These individuals might feel a certain dependency to this administration whether it be based on their own ethnicity, sexual proclivity, or even government assistance and are afraid to rock the boat any further.  They will agree to have conversation with you about politics …in private and because their is a secret ballot can be converted.
