WALL STREET JOURNAL 2

This weekend I focus on the stories that I would have passed by from my viewing. I not only focused on those stories but why the initial headline didn’t grab my interest and what I would have lost if I didn’t pursue this knowledge. Here are 4 of those stories.

(1) Minnesota liaison  goes into Somalia communities of that area. I initially didn’t see how this story would have any impact on my life and others around.  As I read it though I realized that my ignorance ignored that this excursion into these communities helped to prevent young people from joining Muslim Extremist groups like ISIS that could have caused additional threats to our homeland.

(2) Corporate earning’s reports depending on the report that is used.  This article appeared to have a whole bunch of financial figures to it and I have a headache but by ignoring this article I would have missed how what appears in reports mirror depends on who is looking and how deep that mirror gets.

(3) Chinese President & Taiwanese Ruling Party Leader will be meeting next month.  This was a small article and I had to look deeper into the paper to find it. This is the most significant talks that China & Taiwan have had in years and could help relieve tensions between them.

(3)  KC Royals have been involved in the most brawls so far in this baseball season.  KC Royals lost the World Series last year and I guess the disappointed still lingers in my heart but by reading this article I see that they still have a hot team and a bit feisty one as well.

(4) ISIS inspired terrorist was behind drive by shooting in Saudi Arabia.  I’m disgusted with the abusive political oppression that occurs in Saudi Arabia but I must not be blinded by the even bigger threat ISIS could impose on the Monarch and the world.

An emotional vote!

bill clinton obama

Many of those that we elect to office hit our emotional needs/desires more then our practical concerns.  These candidates appear to relate to our everyday concerns or represent our desire for change in the way our country looks or is portrayed.  The truth is having an emotional tide to a leader has it’s place for the leader must motivate us when times are difficult and show us a new path forward that we might not have seen. An emotional leader can also make us feel good as we belong to “their team”.   Yet leadership without the necessary values and experience can lead us to a dangerous path where we ignore the facts in front of us and instead focus on standing behind our man/woman.   Therefore before voting for such a leader we must carefully weigh that emotionally side against the practical course that leader will send us to and insure that the practical side wins out.

Bad Coffee is GREAT!

bad coffee

If you really want to get that punch to get you going nothing works better then bad coffee.  When you’re going on a long trip and you’re eyelids are beginning to get heavy just the thought of another sip of that bad coffee can wake you up.  It works similar to bad tasting medicine, the worse it taste the faster you mind helps you recover.  So from now on I’ll keep that good tasting cup but not far from it will be the emergency bad tasting cup.

Charity with a push

pushing

It is important to give charity but if that creates dependency instead of independence then I believe it’s time to look at a new cause.  Charities must give those that are falling through the cracks a light layer to stop the fall but also push them to climb up on their own.   This is not done to be cruel but instead to be kind, for a person not set free to explore their possibilities is like a bird caught in a cage. They receive all the basic necessities without having to soar  and seeing the talent and beauty G-D has given them.  Let us see that the potential in every individual is achieved by supporting charities that give but also push.

Boiling Point & Symbolism/Ritual

boiling point 1

When you’re over stressed from “Life’s challenges” it’s important to have a symbol/ritual that takes you to a higher purpose.  Words of comfort can sometimes lower the temperature for a moment but a true faith ritual can bring you back to the path of comfort and understanding.  That’s why it’s important to drop off all your business problems and even thoughts before the Sabbath and pick them up after (trust me they’ll be there). Whether these spiritual rituals occur at a certain time every day or certain periods of your life having them will give you a balance between the here and now and the here and after. Taking the time to perform a spiritual ritual will give you the time to be closer to G-D and see the many pieces that your busy, stressful schedule might be missing.

Vacuum Cleaner that licks

She might be the greatest vacuum cleaner I‘ve ever had the only problem is after she picks up the garbage she goes to lick me.  It’s amazing what my 4 legged friend finds delicious whether it be paper clips, plastic or even food. This vacuum cleaner never has a bag to throw out although I see the return in other ways that aren’t very helpful.  I know that she is there to keep the floor & desk clean so I work extra hard to make sure that this task isn’t needed and the returns are basically food derivatives.  My little vacuum cleaner never needs to be plugged in or recharged and she’s ready to go anytime.   This is the only vacuum cleaner I’ll never sell and work hard to keep her job to a minimum even if it means buying a new vacuum.

Pain or Needed

pain in ass 2

IT SHOULDN’T HURT YOU OR THEM.

Sometimes the difference between success and failure is whether you believe your request could be a “Pain in the Neck (or other area) ” or is something “Needed”.   If you believe the help you need is something the other person would benefit by giving it then it’s not only easier to request that help but in some ways necessary but on the other hand if you feel you might be annoying it shows and so does the result.  For example I’m looking to go to a trade show that I want others to pay for but if I truly don’t feel that there payment isn’t a good investment on there part then it will be difficult for me to ask for that assistance.  If I feel the products I’m selling doesn’t benefit the customer then the sell will fall flat.  Belief in what you are doing is better for others and then it will be better for you as well.

reading

You spend hours reading but you get as much credit as the dog isn’t it time for a change?  ACCREDITED BOOKS allow you to enjoy your reading and receive an accreditation when you are done.  Once you read a chapter you will go online to take a quiz based on that reading which is made up of questions the author believes are important to know. Upon finishing the book and the tests (if passed) you will receive your grade an accreditation that will be signed and delivered for your own display. You also can have your accreditation posted on the website if you so choose.   It’s time that you’re leisurely reading amounts to more then catching a ball.  It’s time the world knows your accomplishments, it’s time for “ACCREDITED BOOKS”.

Jewish Defense Christian League

Isis murder

If you are as sick and tired of watching innocent Christians being brutally slaughtered by groups like ISIS and are Jewish  I ask you to join this group.  To be honest I’m not sure how far we will be able to go all I know is I can’t sit here and just watch without trying in someway to help and with the help of others we might be able to stop this horrible bloodshed.  This movement can move in different directions whether it includes a large scale moment of silence for Christian victims,  contributions to existing groups, making our own fundraisers, fighting for an airlift of Christian refugees but inaction is intolerable.   Many might ask why just Christians and my answer is simple we must start somewhere and we can’t forget the Christian movement that has been a driving force for Israeli security.  We as Jews must take a stand against the murder of innocence for to never forget also includes our brothers and sisters in the world.
