I watch my loved one suffer in a “diabetic prison” yet we know of no crime that has locked her away. Everyday she tries to escape but as she runs to far her sugars run faster leaving her stuck in her tracks.  When she goes to eat her diet must be watched  by what appears a prison guard as every item is calibrated so freedom is always a bite away. Freedom is only a dream because too much or too little of things we consume/enjoy with ease can lead to an dizziness, moodiness, seizure, amputation, coma or even death to those who suffer from this chronic illness.  Her mind is consumed  with these bars dreaming of a day when she will be free and live a life not thinking of this sentence.  Type 1 Diabetes might be a mind set to some but to others it is a lifetime prison sentence.
