1917 & The Witch
One might ask why I’m comparing these two movies that appear to have very little in common. For “The Witch” is an extremely dark horror film while 1917 is an historic drama the come to think of it is a bit dark as well yet that is not why I’m bring these films together here. Both films have incredible cinematographic effects which take you out to a different time period yet only “The Witch” does more then take you to such a time period it brings you in and holds you there. In “1917” you’re basically watching from the outside. For it’s not just language, wardrobe and effects that have a viewer pulled in but character development that is potion which “The Witch” uses so effectively. A potion that comes to a rather dark ending in the vain of a Rosemary’s baby. Both films are incredible pieces of art but one stays with you for better or worse.
