S’MAC Restaurant NYC = Marconi and Cheese

S'mac restaurant 1

First a disclaimer Macaroni and Cheese is not my favorite dish. Yet I do enjoy this food most of the time and I love to support an eccentric restaurant or person.  S’MAC definitely fits the eccentric part of my life as it only serves varieties of Mac & Cheese (short hand). It’s bold idea though doesn’t come with bold flavors as my dish was kind of bland. The help also didn’t light a fire under my chair as they served the dishes as if they were cold.  I’m willing to give it another try though because I tried only the  “Napoletana” a pizza type variety of Mac & Cheese.  Who knows maybe the 2nd time at S’MAC I’ll become a Mac & Cheese fan but until then I’ll stick to “Sticky Fingers” the Chicken Finger Restaurant across the street.

Cookie Thins = Thin

cookie thins

One thing you can’t say about “Cookie Thins” is that their name is  not deceitful.  For  although they are extra crispy their taste is very thin as well.  The chocolate is very subtle and the flavor goes away in a flash.  “Cookie Thins” cookies will keep you thin because one is truly enough.

* *  = I added a 1/2 star because they’re more nutritious then your average cookie.

Pepino Melon

pepino melon

The “Pepino Melon” is a delicious combination taste that enhances your summer fruit variety.  It tastes a bit like a melon and bit like a pear yet not enough to put in either one of the categories.  It has a nice soft texture that is similar to the melon family yet the flavor isn’t as strong as a Honey Dew or Cantaloupe.   The “Pepino Melon” isn’t inexpensive at a $1.89 for a handful piece therefore it’s worth a try but in the long run I’d stick to your standard melons or pears.

Red Kale = Happy Vegetarians & Traditional Jews

red kale kosher bacon

Red Kale is the dream  Vegetarians & Traditional Jews have in common. For this wonderful vegetable supposedly taste like BACON!  Imagine having that sinful delicious taste without the sin.  To top that off Kale is one of the healthiest foods on the planets and once mass produced will be less expensive then Pork formed bacon. So bring on another stack of that Kale Bacon but make mine extra crispy.

Coconut Tequila = Buzz that taste great!

coconut tequila

When it comes to drinks I usually step to the “Caitlyn side” but I finally found a sort of “manly drink” that I can enjoy without feeling as if I drank a form of soap. “Coconut Tequila” will give you the buzz you want and tastes smooth and delicious. The hint of “Coconut” last long enough to allow the warmth of alcohol vibrate in your chest. I’ll leave the Whiskey and Scotch to those with more hair on their chest and stick to my one hair  “Coconut Tequila” .

Sticky Fingers Review

THIS IS NOT AN ADULT COLUMN

There are many ways to get sticky fingers but the way I choose is by eating chicken fingers (at least today) and if you’re a chicken finger connoisseur then “Sticky Finger’s is the restaurant for you.  This restaurant has perfected the art of the finger with each bite starting out crunchy and flavorful and ending with a tender chicken taste. They have just the right assortments for any finger lover from you’re traditional Buffalo style to those who have a sweet tooth with their chicken as  they dive into the Salted Carmel version.  Each location has their own variety of such dishes. No matter what dish you choose there is no way to leave with dry hands.  Of course this isn’t your standard fast food chicken finger in taste and in price as an order of 3 fingers can put you back at least $11.00.   “Sticky Fingers” a restaurant where it’s perfectly acceptable & expected to have sticky fingers.

Fast Food SLOW

Posted by Bruce - in Blog, food - No Comments

While many food critics will slam the new entries on the fast food menu they don’t realize the slow methodical way these items are brought out.  These restaurants spend incredible amounts of time and monies to produce such products with market research, food analysts, marketing, and distribution concerns all in the equation. A perfect example is the new items introduced to the “White Castle” menu (see review below).  White Castle needed to continue to compete in the marketplace and these new entries show that it does.

veggie slider   VEGGIE SLIDERS – Wow White Castle has produced a product that taste great once! These sliders come in a 3 sauces Honey Mustard, Thai and Sweet and Sour yet there good enough to stand alone. The only major unhealthy ingredient is the White Flour roll it’s enclosed in. They say there only available for a limited time but I’m sure if we keep eating them they’ll keep producing them.

Image result for white castle waffle sandwich WAFFLE SANDWICH- Might be my dream sandwich after all but if I eat too many of them it could turn to a nightmare.  The taste is amazing but I’m actually glad they put Bacon on mine because then I only tasted the parts without it.  Therefore my calorie and fat account fell drastically.  These were some of the best waffles I’ve had in a while and the chicken was so crispy.  Dreams can come true but this one should be an occasional  dream and for me the next time is without the Bacon but add a hungry friend instead.

A Restaurant that hits the spot

temptations nyack

I usually don’t write restaurant reviews for many restaurants have that one great or lousy dish that changes my taste buds upon a revisit but “Temptations” in Nyack, NY continues to tempt those buds.  This restaurant isn’t afraid to take common dishes and unusual flavors to them whether it’s their bold salads or unique Edamame even the ordinary is extraordinary there.  Plus ever dish is prepared fresh including staples like sweet potato fries which have the authentic bold flavor you won’t find anywhere else.  “Temptations” also has a great selection of unique soups that truly take those buds away for example last night I had a Coconut Chick Pea soup. What really keeps “Temptations” tempting me is where other restaurants would charge prime prices for these wonderful dishes this restaurant is more then fair with it’s pricing which keeps me coming back for more.

scharffen berger chocolate

**** 1/2 Cocoa Bars

This is one of the best chocolates I have ever tasted. It has the nutty flavor of a Theo bar but adds a hint of a unique fruity taste that’s makes it stand alone. When your day is just a bit too ordinary add the taste of Scharffen Berger 82% and your taste buds will taste heaven.
