What does an individual deserve without directly earning it? I guess it depends on what one believes G-D has given in an individual inalienable rights. Those rights defined in the U.S Constitution appear to be a good starting spot but should others be added to the list? For example, what does one deserve as an owner of a business or the labor in such an operation? As a worker, I believed I deserved an honest day’s pay for the work I performed and nothing more. Yet as an owner I must enforce what I believe I deserve or others will decide for me. Marriage contracts are only as good as the partner’s agreement to follow through with the documents they’ve signed. What one deserves past the basics then can be defined by what one expects to deserve and the ability to fight for it no matter what. Even if in the end they are the only ones who believed they deserved it.
