Is this the image which will save the movie theaters? Where those that watch actually engage with the performance on the screen? For as the screens in the home become bigger and the options larger the theaters must compete with a performance that draws people to their seats even if they have to dance, speak and sing along the way. Whether it be interactive children’s movies or action stories that let the viewer play a role the theaters must adapt to an audience which has a participating role. Maybe one is not anxious to be part of the action but they will want to see what occurs in the seats in front of them or know they went to the “event”. Rocky Horror Picture Show was one I left before the ending credits but the theme it brings to the movies might be one that keeps these theatre’s rolling.
