This is the time of the where my two worlds collide well maybe not that dramatic (above) but more like this one. For many people I deal with on a daily basis don’t recognize the holiday of Shavuot on their calendars while those in my traditional path follow a different route. The holiday of Shavuot marks the giving of the 10 Commandments and honestly I believe it deserves a higher place on the calendar for that reason alone. I mean G-D spoke to all the people at one time that doesn’t happen every day. So I go to Shul and observe the “general customs” of the holiday. Yet I still feel an obligation to those who have their foot in my other world as I journey back to my workplace to finish the day. Individuals who are more traditional observe a 2nd day of the holiday yet I only do with my presence at the Shul and allow the rest of that other world to take over on this day. I guess it’s a balancing act trying to do right in both worlds can be dissing but G-D willing I’m doing right …. sorta.
