An “Unquestion” is a question where one not only doesn’t really want an answer but instead wants the othe individual to feel bad about what they’ve done/said instead. While rhetorical questions might appear to fall into such a category they often leave the listener in a “what if” scenario instead. Here are a few “unquestions” I’ve heard or been asked.
(1) Why did you buy that? The reason this was an “unquestion” was because the individual really didn’t want me to buy the item in question.
(2) Why did you park there? Obviously the answer they want to receive is sorry I’ll park somewhere else in the future.
(3) Did you really think I would like it? Oops I should run to the exchange counter quickly.
