I guess this time it started with me for when my Sargeant told me to arrest that individual I plainly refused. Little did I know that one refusal would lead to complete chaos. For it appeared nobody in society would accept the orders of another. I refused on the grounds that this person was being arrested not because of a crime she committed but that their beliefs were considered deplorable by those in power. What followed was other officers refusing to do the same. Yet when those on the other side heard these tactics they implemented them on their agenda. Waiters refused to serve individuals because the color of their skin was one of a slave master. While employees faced insubordination in a way that challenged the whole capitalist structure and maybe that was the purpose after all.
Maybe the bravado came because we knew the welfare checks were on their anyway while our Commander in Chief literally “stumbled” whether it be walking or speaking. Could it be that we finally gave up on the structures we believed in as many a lesson told us to? Even those who appeared to have the most to lose were taxed so high they didn’t care to be knocked off their perch. All I know is our country was divided not into 50 separate unions that used to come together for the good of all but into thousands upon thousands of entities that bred chaos.
FOOTNOTE- This blog post came from a nightmare that created chaos in my sleep patterns.
