One of the greatest skills we can teach our children is how to cope. Life can take you on many a roller coaster with it’s ups, downs and side turns. With coping skills you have the ability to get off for a moment and move on. Here are a few that I use (below)when things get a bit too hard.
(1) FASTER- Move faster then the problem which appears to be enveloping you. That means take on a new mission ASAP to drift your focus away from the difficulty as soon as possible.
(2) DIVERSION- Utilized with faster but the idea of doing something completely different then the stress you are facing. For example turn on an old song that always made you tap your toes or catch up with that book you forgot to read.
(3) QUICK OUTBURST- Let those feeling go off in a place that can handle your outburst and in a way where nobody gets hurt including yourself.
(4) PLAN FORWARD- Start planning for something else. If then and if not then something else.
