Taxes usually go against my very own nature except one’s that keep our own nature alive. A 5 % sin tax on items that are unhealthy for one’s body such as candy, soda, cookies, cigarettes’, Marijuana etc which would go into a general health plan though is one tax I can agree on. The problem would be who would determine what items are sinful for the body and how such a general health plan would be implemented. Here are a few thoughts on how this could be done.
(1)SCIENTIFIC DATA- Data that has been consistently tested by independent sources in the field of health care would determine which items were considered bad for one’s health.
(2) HEALTH CARE FUND– Would be disbursed throughout the area where the sin tax is collected and individuals would have many options on how to spend said monies as long as they meet health care guidelines. This would be done through a debit card type system.
(3) OPPOSITION VIEW- Those who feel either one of the provisions above are not implemented correct would have regular public hearing to address their concerns in front of those who would make such decisions.
