These were just some of the ordinary individuals (above) who had extra-ordinary strength. They didn’t fight invisible enemies but enemies of real starvation, bullets at their head and/or vile laws that kept them behind. Yet they didn’t go to therapist to deal with their pain and suffering but fought their own battles with hard work and determination to make their own life’s as well as their loved one’s better. I guess there wasn’t time to “feel” the pain they truly suffered because life meant they truly had to pull themselves up from their boot straps (if they had them) to make something out of the scars they would leave behind. We can learn so much from these stories which are painful to hear but more importantly their awesome victories that could teach us how to live today.
