startup open for business

Over 90 % of the “Start-Up” businesses fail which one’s will make it and which won’t? Start-Up will be the one show that looks at it from just a light bulb in someone’s head till the day they Open for business and will run periodic updates along the way.  “Start Up” will dig deeper to discover all the key individuals that make or break such a business.  “Start Up” will be the one show you won’t want to see close.

Hope to Homeless-Reality

homeless 2 homeless 1

Our fellow citizens are dying on our streets while we too often walk over them as if they were trash. Let us point out one key fact most of these individuals have put themselves by poor decisions they’ve made (use of illicit drugs, untreated mental health issues, petty criminal record etc) yet society should give them a step to get out ASAP. Here is my proposal to end homeless (below). It combines compassion with tough love.

(1) LEGISLATION- Pass laws that make it nearly impossible to be homeless (ex no sleepy on pubic streets, anti loitering laws etc) along with funding needed to solve this problem once and for all.

(2) SELF HELP FACILITIES- Incentives will be given to private sector facilities (based on their success) to run locations that would help homeless individuals become productive members of our society. These facilities would be closely monitored to insure that abuse is not a serious problem and to insure their producing the desired results.

(3) ACTIVE HELP- Trained mental health professionals with the ability to protect themselves will go out on the street in order to bring such individuals to self help facilities (above) that can help them get their life in order. Those who refuse such treatment openly  might be forced by court order to get this help.  These facilities will be in competition for government funds based only on the success of helping such individuals in the short and long run and therefore must continue to provide counseling to those in need.

Straight Outta Compton- Left me Out

straight outta compton 1  straight outta compton 2

I work in the inner city and empathize with those who have suffered from police abuse having witnessed it many times myself but Straight Outta Compton left me out. Some will say I don’t understand the culture and that might be somewhat true but the continue negative portrayal of such individuals especially as they moved up the music ladder left me walking out of the room before the film even ended.  If there were a couple of flashbacks that kept haunting them or scenes of some redemption I might have felt somewhat differently but it’s hard to feel for those who are continually full of hate and anger even to what they consider “their own kind” as they step over them for glory. The movie also was somewhat repetitive and the language was over the top where their the “F & N word” was used as if it was “the” and therefore lost any force. The acting was the only redeeming quality of this film.

10 Cloverfield -Impressive yet….

10 Cloverfield Lane 1 10 Cloverfield Lane 2

10 Cloverfield Lane is an impressive film with an action packed script yet left you feeling something should have been different. It wasn’t the fabulous performance of John Goodman, Mary Elizabeth Winsted and John Gallagher Jr. but the predictable ending that let it not reach the 10 it could have had. This film is still worth it’s money and time but a different portrayal of John Goodman’s character would have left the viewer with a perspective that kept them thinking way after the credits were rolled. Enjoy the movie but contact me if you want to know what that ending would be.

*** 1/2 – 10 Cloverfield Lane.

NCAA Final Four -Guilt

March Madness

I have to be honest this season I haven’t been that mad with NCAA basketball. I’m sure it’s been just as exciting this year as years in the past but my excitement has gone in different directions films, family even dogs. The only dribbling I’ve been watching is the four legged type. It’s not that I don’t enjoy watching these teams compete it’s just that there is so much competition for my leisurely hours on and off the boob tube.   I know that is a foul in my sports world and hope to get it back before the final four comes along.  That is unless the remote or my dogs lead me down a different path to my hoop of happiness.

Homeless to Hope!

homeless 2 homeless 1

How do they end up on the streets? Who were their friends, family and associates that saw them drift down? Can one show lift them up to begin again?  HOMELESS TO HOPE will explore the individual stories of those left on the street and find out if there is a path for redemption through faith, family and friends.  Finally a T.V show that will make a difference one life at a time.

Easter – A Jewish look

Easter Bunny

To start out I love the bunny (except for the mess they leave you) and you can’t beat an egg made of chocolate what an awesome combination.   It is great to see stores closed for Easter if only for leaving me a few more dollars in my pockets, which I’ll blow at the movie theater instead.  The theme of the story of Easter which consists of forgiveness and love is something we all can appreciate even if we don’t share the same version of how we get there.  Jesus life and times kept many from the paganism faith of that era and today inspires over a billion people toward the monotheism faith and values which we can share together. To conclude as a Jew I differ in the actual story but we in life differ on many stories whether if be in the movies or real life (yet to still listen and watch) it’s the inner meaning that brings us together instead.  Therefore let us agree to disagree on such and work to uphold the values of faith, forgiveness and love no matter where you’re faith might take you.   Happy Easter to all my Christian Brother’s and Sisters.

Ted Cruz Allegation- THE TRUTH

Posted by Bruce - in Blog, Philosophy, Political - No Comments

Ted Cruz 2

There have been some unseemly allegations made about Ted Cruz through a tabloid newspaper which I will not repeat here for no person should have their name and families name thrown through the gutter on just allegations.  Whether these allegations are for or against your candidate, friend or foe justice must still be blind and that isn’t just true in the courtroom but life as a whole.  When an allegation is made  on anyone their needs to be substantial evidence (DNA, Witnesses that collaborate, Video/Sound) before we should decide it’s worthy to spread this “innuendo” as a probably truth.  We must carefully consider what is the most likely motivation of the  accuser and/or publication making such an allegation, is it for justice or for their own glory? Are we basing the “truth” on fact or how we feel about such an individual? The truth about Ted Cruz’s, Donald Trumps, John Kasich, Hillary Clinton, & Bernie Sanders is simple without hard facts we must acquit.

Donald Trump VS Ted Cruz- Fist to Fist

Donald Trump Vs Ted Cruz in boxing match

If Donald Trump and  Ted Cruz decided to take their battle for the Presidency to the boxing ring who would win? Here is how I see it.

(1) Ted Cruz has the youth so he’s probably got the speed on Donald

(2) Mr. Trump has a few inches and the weight against Ted. Therefore Ted must be quite agile.

(3) Ted has flinched from Mr. Trump’s bravado but when it comes to punches he might have to duck.

(4) Cruz also has a larger nose which could take more hits.

Therefore I would recommend Mr. Cruz makes sure he keeps the fight with words instead of in a ring for the Donald has the punches that would end the race very quickly.
