It appears that the Germanwings Flight 9525 was an act of murder by the Co-Pilot that could have been avoided, if proper measures were taken. It’s time we review such measures (below) and enact those that work ASAP to avoid such a disaster in the future.
(1) Pilot, Co-Pilot, Flight Attendants & Sky Marshall all have a separate password and key to enter cabin so that the Pilot and/or co-pilot never fly alone.
(2) Pilot & Co-Pilot are (randomly) spoken to before and after a flight to discover if they are mentally and physically prepared to fly now or the near future. They are not initially penalized for withdrawing from a flight if they feel their not competent to do so.
(3) Mental Health treatment is offered openly and without stigma to those who need it without the fear of losing a license over the long run.
(4) If it appears that a pilot or co-pilot is about to crash the system will take over unless it is overridden by another official with a different code.
