Am I becoming a homebody?

Posted by Bruce - in Blog - No Comments

I’m wondering if I’m turning into a homebody in which I’m just as happy or even happier being in the house then traveling somewhere else?  The truth is many of my favorite activities are found in or around the house so why do I need to travel around the world. When I’m home I don’t have to worry about traffic, Wi-Fi Connection, gambling my monies away or getting into other trouble. I know the exact ingredients in that chicken dish and how old the milk is where when I’m in a restaurant I leave that to the discretion and mood of the chef.   If I stay at home the lost items will be found there but if I travel they can be found in Bermuda.  I still enjoy the occasional travel plan if just for the initial excitement but home is truly sweet to me.

Treatment or Prison!

DNA

If we were able to determine at birth by someone’s DNA or other modern methods their propensity to commit future criminal activities would it be better to treat them then or let them develop naturally? Most of us would probably suggest minor treatment but what if the treatment required medicine, drastic treatment (electric shock) or even surgery (lobotomy) where would we stand on this issue? What if this would stop this individual from becoming a violent criminal or child molester would we then agree to such treatment in advance? Could we not only be stopping that potential criminal mind but also the mind of individuals such Edgar Allan Poe and Stephen King who might have sadistic thoughts but only add those to their artistic pieces. I believe that the solution must lie in between where light treatment and monitoring occurring  without hurting the ability of the creative mind to develop and insuring we all have free will to determine our futures.

Barking is fun.

I love to bark, meow, or imitate the variety of sounds that I hear. My barking is the best though because I been able to imitate small, large, crying and panting as if I truly had four legs and a tail.  Sometimes when words will get you in trouble a bark is truly the only answer. Here’s a little fellow who puts me to shame (see attached)

Wall Street Journal Weekend Review IMPORTANT TO YOU- October 25th

wall street Journal

I decided this week to focus on articles or commentaries that should be significant to most people own personal life and tell you why I believe this to be the case.

(1) Kathryn Ruemmler removed her name to become the next Attorney General. As we can see from  current and past history of Attorney Generals can impact our lives. Whether it be Eric Holde,Ed Meese or Archibald Cox these appointments can play a significant role in the way our country functions and how our individual rights are protected.

(2) New Jersey and New York will automatically  quarantine individuals who have come from countries that have an epidemic of  Ebola cases. This could affect the actual spread of the disease and the treatment of those inflicted with it.

(3) Builders are selling fewer houses and those they sell are at higher prices then in the past. This effects the value of current homeowners, people in the building industry and those looking to own own or rent property.

(4) The stock market is expected to continue fluctuate greatly.  This effects any person that has an monies left in the market as well, those who have retirement account as well as those who rely on the extra income of others in their daily work.

(5) According to a top U.S Commander North Korea has the capacity to put Nuclear Weapons on a Warhead that can be launched onto it’s  “enemies”. This countries leaders  have no fear of slaughtering their own people for minute reasons shouldn’t we fear how they might act to their perceived enemies?

(6)Teenager rambunctious behavior is due to their desire for new sensations. Understanding this fact might help us find new activities for those young people which will not hurt them (illegal drug use) or hurt others (join gangs).

(7) Do patients need to be protected from themselves. This could effect the regulations that might be put into effect that will inform such patients or prevent them from getting the care they want?

(8) Space travel is now available for basically everyone from the 1 %.  Will they be successfully enough so that they can reduce the cost for the rest of us?

(9) Consumers  are expected to spend 2 % to 27% less on heating their home this winter.  This will enable us to spend those monies on items we truly enjoy instead.

(10) Social Security recipients will receive a cost of living adjustment of 1.7 % in the upcoming  years. This not only effects those that receive such benefits but the businesses and families of those recipients.

(11) China continues to grow the amount of Nuclear Subs it has in the high seas. Depending on the current dictatorial  leadership this could effect security around the globe.

(12) ISIS has used poison gas in it’s battles in Iraq.  ISIS has said it wants to bring it’s terror to the west this is one more deadly weapon it has in it’s arsenal to carry that out.

(13)Al Sharpton’s stock has risen with many Democratic leaders while his views have not changed much.  Therefore we can expect the Democratic party to move further to the left in it’s policies.

(14) Proshares Short S&P 500 enables it’s investors to make monies as the market declines.  Here is a way for the average investor to hedge their bets in a bear market.

My worst kiss- A BUD REFLECTION

awkward

IT WASN’T THIS BAD BUT IT SURE FELT LIKE IT WAS.

We all know about the different cliches that ran through our High School years the Jocks, Nerds, Druggies, Hipsters, Snobs and Cheerleaders but what if you didn’t belong to anyone of those cliches and were to go on a date with the hottest Cheerleader in your class? This occurred to me during a c. winter break from my college term. I tried to be myself but at this point I still was searching. We went to a fine dining restaurant and enjoyed some small talk but the awkwardness came to full fruition as the date was ending. It was the time for the goodnight kiss and I wasn’t sure which kiss this included. Would it be the polite kiss on the cheek type or being the au revoir type? Needless to say I was going in one direction and she was going in the opposite direction as did our lives after that night. If only I had a retake that night would have led me down a different path.

To sue or not to sue?

lawyer

We all have gone through experiences that could lead to a lawsuit if we chose to take that course but is that always the best remedy? When a product or individual negligence results in a personal injury to you or a loved one you have the right to be compensated (especially if their are long term damages) but wouldn’t it be better if we not only were compensated for that pain but reduced the likelihood that this pain was suffered by others, in the future?  I believe that should be the prime reason to start such actions. We must take personal responsibility for common sense mistakes like slipping on ice during a winter storm, or burning a tongue while drinking coffee but for those injuries that were truly incurred do to negligence and that have a high probability to hurt others in the future we must seek a legal remedy that changes this course.

I was cruel -A BUD REFLECTION

cruel

In one’s life we sometimes make decisions that later on we realize were cruel but if we were truly honest would probably still do it again this was one of those decisions.  I had just graduated college and wanted to have a girlfriend even if this wasn’t the woman I would take home to the dog (the dog would be attracted). This older lady to put it plenty was 28 and I was a mere 21ish  had gone on several dates me with me when I invited her to a club.  Of coarse as soon as I walked every woman looked like a model or a close runner up while my date well let’s just say had a nice personality.  I immediately realized that it was best that I explained to the date that I believe it would be best if we were just were friends. Of course it was cruel but sometimes the other head rules. The night ended as it should with me going home alone but just like playing the slots sometimes the temptations so great that you feel you have to give it a chance even if you end up empty in the end.

solar power house

I continually try to lower my own personal carbon footprint not only because I figure it can’t hurt but also because it’s cost effective but imposing this view on others is a whole different story. My house is the only one in the neighborhood with solar polar and I’ve started replacing all my bulbs to the LED format. I also have motion detectors in most of my house to insure that the lights are off when the people are out. I continually try to reuse my plastic cutlery as well as cups and bowls even though this isn’t as strictly followed by the rest of the family.  Upon purchasing a car only safety is above my desire to lesson this carbon footprint with increased gas mileage. I’ve even reduced my intake of cattle products and other meats which is also partially due to health concerns but also to lesson the impact that my food desires effect the planet. Yet just like someone’s faith and culture I believe these are personal decisions that individuals and families should make. Education is an important step in one’s decisions but in the end it must rest with the individual  and not be imposed by governmental decrees.
