never satisfied

Why is it we’re never truly satisfied and should we be?  If we were satisfied with that car, house or even piece of chocolate would we not strive for something else? I believe it’s human and even dog nature to want more (trust me dogs like Filet Mignon better then Puppy Chow).  I enjoy the fine things in life as well but have found and outlet that allows me to stop and smell a  1/2 rose.

It’s important to enjoy what one has and strive to achieve for other reasons as well such as self actualization and helping others.   Therefore to battle this instinct that makes us look continually for the newest sometimes it’s best to go back to the basics. A simple Peanut butter and jelly sandwich (if your not allergic) and a glass of water will be just fine. Taking a simple walk and enjoying nature can undue many of these instincts for a few moments. Better yet reflecting on your achievements once a week will let you realize how much you truly achieved. You might not have saved the world but maybe you helped a friend or loved one with a difficult situation and who knows where that might have led. You might not be the biggest guy at the gym but you’re much stronger then when you first started.  If you take these few steps once a week trust me that newest chocolate will taste much better and you’ll look a whole lot better when looking in the mirror.

Devil’s Due- A great home movie

Devil's Due

ONE OF THE MOST AMAZING SCENES IN THE FILM

Some movies are great to watch on the big screen while others make their greatest appearance on the home screen. A good example of this is “Devil’s Due” which I truly enjoyed at home but would have hated it in the theater.  This movie would have irritated me  on the big screen because some scenes were a bit too long and the jumpy camera can really make you feel like jumping out of your seat but with the ability to fast forward some scenes and go back to others this film worked just right.  The story was a light version of “Rosemary’s Baby with a bit more action then expected.  The acting and story were fine but the special effects were amazing.  In short ‘Devil’s Due” it due your attention at home but not in theater.

Sickness Party

party 1

If G-D forbid I develop a sickness that will take me awhile to get better if at all but I initially feel fine I’m going to have a party. This might seem bizarre but I realize that all your friends and family will come out to see you when you’re feeling really sick so why not give them a party before which you and they can truly enjoy. I’m not sure what I would actually call this party because usually parties celebrate happy occasions like birthdays and anniversaries how about “I’m Alive Party”?  Then the point is would it be right for them to have such a good time when tomorrow “doesn’t look so good” ? I believe so because life doesn’t come with any guarantees and at least this one would come with a warning.   I believe that this party might also inspire me to beat any odds against me so I could celebrate more happy occasions in the future. What do you think?

Wall Street Journal Weekend Review-July 26th

wall street Journal

This week I’m only going to list the articles that I fully found new and/or gave me a unique perspective on an issue that I  might have neglected.  It will be a bit more concise but I hope more informative. I will also explain why it got my attention.

(1) Gunman in Afghanistan executed 15 civilians belonging to the Shiite minority. In the past these murders were not based on the various forms of Islam but on if you accepted the control of the Islamist. Is this a sign that what is occurring in ISIS controlled Iraq could occur in Afghanistan once the American presence is reduced?

(2) A Fore-scenic photography has escaped Syria with thousands of pictures which appear to show the systematic brutality of the Syrian regime. Can the world continue to ignore this and if not what kind of response is appropriate and will be utilized ?

(3) Fort Worth, Texas holds onto it’s Western culture allowing Cowboys on horses to roam the streets. This is a quaint story that shows that some traditions never die.

(4) Former Republican Governor Mitch Daniels makes waves as the new school President of Purdue. It is interesting to see a Conservative running an institution that is predominately filled with those of the opposite philosophy and will be more interesting to discover if he is able to continue to be successful in the future.

(5) Unaccompanied girls outweigh boys coming to the U.S  illegally.  It perplexes the mind to think of a parent letting their young daughters make this extremely dangerous trip.

(6)ISIS blows up the tomb of Jonah from the bible.  Jonah was a man who reached out to others to repent and find G-D.  The bible records these activities helped save thousands from death that were of various background. Why destroy this symbol?

(7)  Protests in Germany by Arabs call for violence against the Jews. All I have to write is, in Germany?

(8) Russia has raised their prime interest rate to 8%  to stop inflation. What this will stop is any true economic expansion.

(9) Russia has announced lawsuits against McDonald’s to prevent it from selling it’s most popular burgers and milk shakes. Could the real reason be because Russia is trying to get back at the U.S sanctions or have they suddenly become Kosher? I think you know the answer.

(10) Elegant traditional watches are making a come back.  I guess people still want to be able to tell time.

(11) A commentator said that the U.N should focus on the programs that give you the biggest bite from your bucks when dealing with anti-poverty measures. It’s nice to dream isn’t it.

(12) There was a fascinating book review on the history of Drones. Drones will be utilized in all future conflicts and the ones with the most advanced technology will have the edge.

(13) The word “pariah” has an interesting history that explains how it came to be used today.

Impeachment no…..but

sad Obama

SORRY WE WON’T GIVE YOU THE BAIT

The Republican Party must make a clear statement before the election that as events occur today that they have no intention to seek impeachment proceedings against the President and any effort to bring up the topic is meant only so that they Democrats could try to bring out some of their base.   The reason that we say today is because we should never close the door  to such actions if new conditions warrant such procedure. This clear unequivocal statement will give the Republicans the best chance to win back the Senate and insure that our constitutional rights are well protected.

A true seize fire leads to Peace.

israel Palestine peace

A true seize fire should not be a way for the divergent parties to gather more weapons and supplies so that they can prolong a conflict but lead to lasting peace or at least steps in that direction.  The seize fire should exist therefore with resolutions that lead in this direction.  Here are some of the points that an Hamas Israeli seize fire must cover.

(1) Hamas agrees to the destruction of all tunnels leading to the borders of Israel.

(2)Israel allows supplies to come in through a well regulated Egyptian border that includes Israel inspection.

(3) Hamas agrees to allow and not hinder any  independent political parties and independent news sources to come into the Gaza Strip.

(4) Israel agrees to joint construction projects to rebuild areas that were damaged during the battles. Israel will provide much of the resources but must be involved in those reconstructions (no rebuilding of tunnels)

(5) Hamas will not send any offensive missiles into Israel and if some occur will expect double the impact back on the Gaza Strip.

(6) Hamas will agree any attack on Israeli innocents will be a reason for Israel to restart these hostilities.

(7) Hamas will agree to allow the people of the Gaza Strip determine in a free and open election (determined by independent) election officials whether Israel has the right to exist and will respect the decision of the people.

Cold Bloodied + High Morals= Winner

reflection  gila monster

It is important that we have empathy but not to the enemies of basic truth.  Those that know what is truly right and wrong must be cold bloodied to those that try to distort and destroy it. We can see this clearly in the battle between Hamas and the Israelite’s. One group fights to defend the innocent while the other uses the innocent to defend themselves. Yet in our daily struggles that line may not be as clear and we might give into something we know is wrong because we don’t want to hurt someone else. Those with strong convictions and cold blood will know when they must act even if the initially reaction will be met with anger and distress. They have the strength to endure the heat because they know that things will cool down and the truth will prevail in the end.

Professionalism

professionalism

YOU CAN FIND IT BETWEEN THE SUIT AND TIE

Most of the time we deal with people who do “their job” but sometimes we are fortunate to find a professional. A person who believes their position in life is more then just a way to earn a dollar but actually to perform a service. These individuals will due work that truly helps no matter if it falls between the cracks society has put up. Here’s how you know (below) that you are dealing with such an individual. When you meet such an individual please make sure you tell them how much their service means to you and your friends.

(1) There is no clock that tells them they must stop their work.

(2) They go beyond the normal work and perform tasks that weren’t expected of them.

(3) These individuals truly respect their client and seek to provide them with the information they seek in a way that is understandable to them.

(4) There profession is a passion not a job that they punch out of every day.

(5) Ignoring the little details is unacceptable for this individual.
